Plaza of Nations stabbing leaves one person dead after Halloween

Nov 2 2016, 12:32 am

One person is dead and two others are injured after multiple people were stabbed at the Plaza of Nations early Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Brian Montague told reporters at a press conference it appears two groups of people were involved in an altercation near the taxi area, at about 2:30 am.

Two people were taken to hospital with extremely serious stab wounds, he said, while another person arrived later on his own with less serious injuries.

One person has since died, a 25-year-old who has not yet been named by police. Meanwhile, the other seriously injured person is in surgery.

Montague says the stabbing does not seem to have been a random attack, although it is not yet clear how it transpired.

A number of people have been taken into custody, both as suspects and witnesses, he said, but all have been uncooperative so far.

The person’s death is being considered the 10th homicide in Vancouver this year.

Anyone with information or video of the incident is urged to call VPD Homicide Unit at 604 717 2500, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at solvecrime.ca
