Major fire at Pitt Meadows housing complex (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Firefighters in Pitt Meadows are responding to a significant blaze at a housing complex this evening.

The fire began just before 7 p.m. at the Harris Road Co-op complex located in the area of 119 Avenue and 193 Street. At least one two-storey building has been destroyed, and flames have begun to spread to adjacent buildings.

Traffic in the area is closed due to heavy smoke and as firefighters continue battle the fire.

• UPDATE: The fire has been extinguished. Four units were on fire as well as a number of cars. A total of eight units were damaged.
