We already know the top 10 ice cream spots in Vancouver. But what if you aren’t in the mood to go out, or maybe you’re looking for something healthier, or are allergic to dairy? There’s a simple solution! Frozen Banana ‘Ice Cream’!
This is the pin that started it all. The only ingredient you truly need is frozen bananas. That’s it. The best thing about this recipe is that it is gluten-free, dairy free and it actually is healthy and good for you. I was skeptical about how it would turn out. How can a banana possibly give the same creaminess that ice cream provides? But it does!
Ingredients
3 – 4 frozen bananas
Optional
2 tablespoons of Nutella, or peanut butter, or chocolate sauce
1/4 cup of chocolate chips
Directions
Since we are using the bananas frozen, instead of letting them defrost, I recommend freezing the banana without the skin.
Break up the bananas into smaller pieces, maybe 2 – 3 pieces per banana
Add it into the food processor.
Process for about 30 seconds. The bananas will look crumbly at first, but it will come together.
Now is the time to add your flavourings. I had some Chocolate Hazelnut spread from my June Snackbox, so I drizzled two tablespoons into the mixture, and also added some dark chocolate chips.
Mix all the ingredients until combined. You don’t want to over process because the machine will heat up and melt your banana.
You can either eat it right away, or put it in a container, and let it set up in the freezer for about half an hour.
What would you put in your banana ‘ice cream’?
