A Burnaby man with autism is now the best pinball player in the world, after biffing out the best of the rest at the world championships in Pittsburgh.

“It felt great to win something and exciting at the same time,” Roberto Gagno told Vancity Buzz. “[It] is the nicest trophy I have seen.”

Gagno, who usually practices about one hour a day, says he ups his gaming to two or three hours a day when a tournament is at stake.

That extra training paid off at the Professional & Amateur Pinball Association (PAPA) World Championships earlier in April.

In the finals, Gagno scored 895 million at Demolition Man, 22 million at Iron Man and 718,000 at Flash Gordon, tallying up a winning total of 10 points.

So what does the future hold for the best pinhead in the world?

“I hope to win more big tournaments,” Gagno says simply.

Something tells us the flippers will be forever in his favour.
