The pilot of a small plane has died after his aircraft crashed into a field in South Surrey this afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m. near Colebrook Road and Highway 99. Just before the crash, witnesses on the ground saw the aircraft fly northwest before turning east and crashing.
Emergency responders, including an air ambulance, rushed to the scene but were not able to revive the adult pilot. He was declared deceased at the scene.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating the incident. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
This comes just three weeks after a small plane crashed onto Highway 99 in Delta during the evening rush hour. Nobody was injured in that incident.
