Pianos on the Street New Westminster

Dec 19 2017, 7:11 pm

Pianos on the Street is coming to River Market at New Westminster Quay on Friday, July 11 at noon.

This innovative summer initiative places pianos in various open-air locations throughout the Metro Vancouver area for the public to play with the goal of building bridges throughout the community. Until now, only residents of the city of Vancouver have had the opportunity to tickle the ivories of our pianos. But there’s no need to be jealous of Vancouver because this year, for the first time, Pianos on the Street is coming to New Westminster’s River Market.

Founder of the Piano Teachers Federation, Sean Pacey, with the support of the Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Area and River Market, is set to launch the initiative in New Westminster on July 11. A piano will be placed in a special public location on the waterfront at River Market on that day where it will stay until the end of summer.  Numerous musicians will be present to celebrate the launch on July 11 expect to see some of New Westminster’s finest piano teachers serenading the public. Celebrations will begin at River Market at New Westminster Quay at 12:00 PM.

Also, for the first time in the event’s history, Pianos on the Street will feature an upload video contest with cash prizes of up to $400. Competitors will also be eligible for a chance to play with the North Shore Symphony.

It’s that simple – go outside and play for a chance to win! Record yourself playing and upload your video to www.supportpiano.com.
