Petro-Canada transforms iconic Canadian roadside landmark in support of family caregivers

Honk honk! This Ontario roadside attraction is getting a new look, and it’s sure to cause some honking!

During September, the iconic 28-foot Goose statue in Wawa, Ontario, will have a larger-than-life makeover inspired by the Petro-Canada Give A Honk Goose Keychain.

The Goose Keychain is available at Petro-Canada locations across the country. Fill up your car, head inside, and get your Goose for $1.  For every keychain purchased, $3 will be donated to the Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation, supporting family caregivers across the country.

The Goose Keychain is $1 plus taxes with a 25L fuel purchase.

Family caregivers are everywhere — odds are, you probably know someone who looks after a parent, child, or loved one. Petro-Canada wants to help recognize family caregivers by asking Canadians to “Give A Honk”.

It’s an important, often unrecognized role. There are nearly 8 million family caregivers across Canada who provide unpaid care to loved ones living with health conditions, disabilities, chronic illness, or age-related needs. Roughly one in four Canadians is a family caregiver and spends an average of 19 hours a week providing care.

Since being launched in 2020, the Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation has donated more than $16 million through grants, partnerships and research.

So, why a Canadian goose? The mighty bird represents loyalty, protection and dedication to their flock, traits that feel pretty familiar when you think about family caregivers.
