A week has passed since the sudden death of Carson Crimeni, a 14-year-old boy who unexpectedly passed away in the hospital.

The Langley RCMP, as well as the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO BC), have begun investigations, but few updates have been given as to the exact cause of Crimeni’s passing.

Police have stated, however, that his sudden death was believed to be caused by a drug overdose. An investigational tip line was also established (1-604-532-3398) in hopes of receiving additional information.

In the meantime, an online petition has been started, calling for justice in the 14-year-old’s death.

The petition, titled “Justice for Carson Crimeni,” is targeted towards the Langley RCMP and the Department of Justice. Since being started two days ago the petition has gathered more than 10,000 signatures, surpassing its initial goal.

At the time of writing, there are currently 10,277 signatures, with an increased goal of reaching 15,000.

The creator of the petition, a Maple Ridge resident, says that three individuals were allegedly involved in the incident.

“They pressured him into taking a dangerous amount of drugs,” the petition reads. “They filmed him out of his mind, clearly in need of medical help. They laughed at him. They made fun of him.”

The creator of the petition is now calling for said individuals to be held responsible for their alleged actions, calling it “bullying at its finest.”

“These kids should be held accountable,” the creator writes. “They know right from wrong.”

A GoFundMe that was also created in memory of Crimeni has raised $30,000 — it broke its goal of $20,000 in less than four days.

The GoFundMe was created by friends of the Crimeni family, who call them a “loving, giving, and kind family,” and “the type of people that would give you the shirt off their back.”
