
A pedestrian has passed away after being hit by a vehicle on Highway 1 in Abbotsford.
According to Fraser Valley Traffic Services, the incident took place on Thursday, August 1, at approximately 7 pm.
Emergency services attended to a report of a pedestrian who was struck on Highway 1, near Clearbrook Road.
So far, investigators have determined that a commercial vehicle driving westbound struck a pedestrian on the roadway.
The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was found deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.
Highway 1 moving westbound was closed for nearly seven hours while investigators were on scene. Roads opened just before 2 am this morning.
Fraser Valley Traffic Services, in conjunction with the British Columbia Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement Unit, and the BC Coroners’ Service will be continuing to investigate the incident.
