A 79-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a car in Abbotsford Wednesday evening.

At 7:30 pm, the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian in the 33400 block of Marshall Road.

Upon their arrival, police – along with fire and ambulance crews – found the seriously injured woman, along with a Chevrolet Venture van nearby.

The woman was rushed to hospital, but succumbed to her injuries just a few hours later.

The driver of the van – a 52-year-old woman – stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police, who said she was “extremely shaken” by the incident.

The investigation is continuing and APD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call them at 604-859-5225 or text 222973 (abbypd).
