Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Downtown Eastside

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in the Downtown Eastside, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The collision happened before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning right at Main and Hastings Streets. Police are currently on the scene investigating.

Traffic will be affected for several hours and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Until further notice, the following bus routes are being detoured:

  • #003 008 019 Eastbound Pender is now open. These buses will route via Pender to Main
  • #003/008 Northbound  travelling via Broadway to Cambie, Eastbound  via Pender to Main
  • #135 160 Eastbound via Hastings, Columbia, Cordova, Gore to Hastings
  • #022 Eastbound via Hastings, Cambie, Pender and Westbound via Pender, Columbia, Hastings
  • #019 Main via Hastings returning Northbound via Main, Pender, Columbia, Hastings and Eastbound via Hastings, Cambie, Pender, Main
  • #135/160 travelling Westbound via Hastings, Gore, viaduct
  • #210/211 via Powell Water St. Richards and Hastings

Transit users should allow for extra travel time whole using these bus routes.
