Pattullo Bridge closed after fatal collision involving five vehicles, including a bus

A serious collision has shut down the Pattullo Bridge between New Westminster and Surrey this morning.
According to a news release issued by Surrey Police Service (SPS) at 9:25 am, the fatal incident occurred just before 8:30 am, involving five vehicles including one bus.
The collision occurred on the east end of the bridge. Fire and paramedic services administered lifesaving measures to one adult female driver, but she passed away at the scene.
SPS states there are injuries to other drivers and passengers involved in the collision, but at this early time the extent of the injuries is unknown.
The investigation is in its early stages, and the cause of the incident is unknown. Both the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operational Support Unit Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) have been called in to assist.

The bridge is fully closed to traffic to enable the investigation. SPS anticipates road closures and traffic diversions will last throughout Sunday.
