We can appreciate a good party. To that end, we’re always scouring the web for inspiration, flipping through magazines and have at least three boards of Pinterest set up. But how do the celebrities do it? They hire celebrity event planners of course.

When Heidi Klum wants to throw a party, she calls Mindy Weiss, celebrity event planner who’s worked with supermodels and Hollywood A-listers, including Jessica Simpson (she even planned the wedding for younger sister Ashley Simpson and he beau Eric Ross).

She shares five tips on how to throw the ultimate Mexican dinner party at home.

Think colour

With such a vibrantly stylized food, use colourful accessories to help make these tacos pop! A great way to do this is to incorporate colourful dishware and bright napkins as accents.

Tequila tasting bar

Most people think all tequila taste the same. Put it to the test by offering your guests five different tequilas to taste and displaying cards that describe the difference between them. Your friends and family will be surprised by the unique flavours – and feel great when they leave!

Guacamole bar

Guacamole continues to be one of the quintessential toppings on tacos but why not add a twist and offer your guests an array of unique toppings to customize this fan favourite.

Tie it all together with music. Load your iPod with vintage and current Latin tunes or varying tempos. As the night goes on, you might want to turn on the high energy tunes that will encourage guests to show off their best dance moves!

The food is the focus

The key to a successful Mexican-inspired evening is clearly the food! Keep it easy, yet authentic, with Old El Paso’s new line of Restaurante Tacos in three delicious flavours: Chicken Tinga, Steak Carne Asada and Baja Fish.
