Parallel 49 Brewing is proud to host the production of the 2013 Vancouver Craft Beer Week (VCBW) Collaboration Beer at its facility in Vancouver, BC on Friday, March 22nd. In celebration of BC’s largest craft beer festival, over thirty of BC’s finest breweries will band together to brew a unique classic from Vancouver’s brewing history. Using top-quality grains donated by Country Malting and BC grown hops donated by Hops Connect, the collaborative brewing project is being led by Graham With (Parallel 49 Brewing) and James Walton (Storm Brewing).

“Parallel 49 Brewing is very pleased to host the production of the VCBW Collaboration Ale this year”, said Graham With, Head Brewer – Parallel 49 Brewing Company. “This is a great project. It bands the craft brewing industry together to celebrate the art of brewing small-batch beers while raising money for a charity”.

This years beer will be in the classic Alt style, brewed with a traditional German decoction mash, which should yield a well-balanced, bitter yet malty, clean, smooth ale. The beer will be available during VCBW in draught at participating establishments, and in 650ml bottles at leading private liquor stores throughout the Lower Mainland.

Each year, partial proceeds from the sale of VCBW’s collaboration beer are donated to a different charity. Last year, $3,200 was donated to the Farmland Defense League of BC. This year proceeds will be donated to the Save on Meats Breakfast Token Program.

Those looking to attend the brew day can show up to the Parallel 49 Brewing tasting room on 1946 Triumph St at 12:00pm, March 22nd. Those in attendance will include a number of the participating brewers, Save on Meats owner Mark Brand, and VCBW representatives.
