If there has ever been a time to embrace the coming of a new year with a happy dance, jumps, and general good vibes, it’s now.
Every single one of us has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in one way or another, from isolation to a decrease in physical activity to a change in our eating habits. A study of 1,000 British Columbian adults in September 2020 confirmed this.
Conducted for Pacific Blue Cross by independent market research firm Insights West, the study revealed that many respondents say the pandemic has impacted exercise routines (42%), eating right (25%), quality sleep (32%), and alcohol and cannabis intake (19%).
But it’s not too late to turn around this trend and commit to healthy changes for 2021, people. Pacific Blue Cross wants to help you get there with its annual Health Challenge. By entering, you could win $2,000 in health cash!
As BC’s Health Benefits Society, Pacific Blue Cross improves health and wellbeing for all British Columbians. And for this year’s challenge, the provider is offering over $10,000 in health cash prizes.
Getting started is easier than ever when you head to PBCHealthChallenge.ca. First, choose one of eight healthy goals: Exercise, Eating Right, Fun Activities, Quality Sleep, Staying Connected, New Adventures, Find Balance, or Quit Smoking.
Next, enter your details to sign up, and be sure to share your goal with family and friends. Each vote of support gives you an extra entry into the health cash draws. Besides, sharing a health goal can make you more likely to stick with it — and encourage your pals to join in on the challenge, too!
To clarify, anything from going for regular walks around your neighbourhood to at-home yoga or even making sure you get to bed an hour earlier each night could be your health goal — how you design an action plan is in your hands.
We could all do with a lighter, brighter 2021. When you sign up for the Pacific Blue Cross Health Challenge, you could win health cash to spend on things that will help you stay healthy and ultimately smash your goals.
Interested in an at-home spin class subscription? That’s covered. The same goes for purchasing rollerblades or skis, signing up for a healthy meal delivery service to keep you well-nourished, virtual personal trainer subscriptions, memberships to climbing gyms, online mediation programs, and basically anything else good for you.
Why waste any longer thinking about what was or could have been in 2020? Instead, make a commitment to yourself to have your definition of self-care be a top priority in 2021, starting with your health goals.
