Overnight homicide at Burnaby's Edmonds Station

DH Vancouver Staff Feb 15, 2015 10:40 am

Metro Vancouver’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is at SkyTrain’s Edmonds Station in Burnaby following an overnight altercation near the station entrance.

Burnaby RCMP responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a fight at the station.

Upon arrival, officers found one man with severe stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

There is limited information available at this time; the investigation is still in its early stages and police are working to notify the family of the deceased man. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to come forward.

The Edmonds Station bus loop is currently closed to allow investigators to scour the crime scene. Buses are currently picking up and dropping off passengers from the south side on Station Hill Drive. There is no indication when the bus loop will reopen.

There is no impact to SkyTrain service at Edmonds Station – trains are still stopping at the station to pickup and drop off passengers.
