November is here and Vancouver is full of fresh outdoor events to explore. From Fall Classic Run to Canyon Lights and more, here are ten outdoor events to invigorate your new month.

Murders and Mobbings

  • What: ​​Watch crows stream to their evening roost and learn about these interesting and intelligent birds.
  • When: Saturday November 4, 2017

Rock ‘n Stroll

  • What: ​​Travel to the past on this guided walk with Professor Rolf Mathewes to discover secrets about ancient climate and fosslized plants.

Fall Classic Run

  • What: The Fall Classic Run at UBC features a half marathon, a 10 km race, and a 5 km race. Race registration includes a medal, free food, entertainment, and more.

  • Where: University of British Columbia’s East Mall

Ecology Walk with Lee Beavington

  • What: The walk will focus on the ecology, creativity, and wonder of our local forest ecosystem. Lee Beavington is a biologist, artist, and an instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Amazon Field School. He will also compare the amazing biodiversity of tropical rain forests with our own temperate rain forests. Presented by Derby Reach/Brae Island Parks Association.

Dundarave Festival of Lights

  • What: The annual Dundarave Festival of Lights kicks off with a Christmas tree decorating beach party on November 26th. On the four Saturdays leading up to Christmas, stop by for an afternoon of free concerts to spark your Christmas spirit. The official lighting of the Festival’s Christmas tree forest takes place at dusk. The Christmas trees will remain on display until December 31st, 2017

Cedar Cottage Park open house

  • What: ​​Drop by the Cedar Cottage Park open house and share your thoughts on two concepts plans for park improvements and playground upgrades.

  • Where: Trout lake Community Centre – 3360 Victoria Drive, Vancouver

Canyon Lights

  • What: ​Capilano Suspension Bridge’s annual holiday tradition Canyon Lights is a must-see holiday event for all ages. Be dazzled by thousands of magical lights twinkling across the Suspension Bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk and throughout the park. Canyon Lights also illuminates the river and cliff face, and features the world’s tallest living Christmas tree. New this year is ‘Fireflies’, an interactive lighting display in the rainforest. Using giant flashlights, guests can magically awaken waves of tiny lights that glimmer and twinkle like fireflies.

Peak of Christmas

  • What: The Peak of Christmas is popular annual tradition. Meet Santa in person, and enjoy the glow of lights against a majestic mountain backdrop.
  • When: November 24, 2017 – January 7, 2018
  • Where: Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver
  • Admission: Access to the Peak of Christmas is included with Annual Local’s Pass, Y2Play or Winter Season Pass as well as regular Alpine Experience tickets.

Holiday Hi-Light Festival (Park And Tilford)

  • What: The 28th annual Holiday Hi-Light Festival at Park & Tilford Gardens features a majestic festival of lights with over 150,000 on display over 3 acres.
  • When: November 24 to December 31, 2017
  • Where: Park & Tilford Gardens – 333 Brooksbank Avenue, North Vancouver
  • Entry: By donation with proceeds going to support the North Vancouver firefighters, and their various appointed charities.

Vancouver Historic Half Marathon

  • What: ​Vancouver Historic Half Marathon winds its way through Stanley Park, with views of the city, northern mountains, and Lion’s Gate Bridge. The Half Route circles Stanley Park’s Seawall twice, with the 10 km and the 5 km an out and back.
