Canadian couple offering $1.1 million house for just $25 and a letter
Would you trade a 100-word letter and $25 in exchange for a house?
Because an Ottawa couple is offering their $1.1 million home for exactly that.
House-flippers Connie and Allan McIntosh bought a home in Alta Vista, Ontario last year, fixed it up and put it on the market for $1,149,000 but it never sold.

The homeowners decide to launch a contest to instead give the house away for under $30 and some words.
The McIntoshs got the idea from an Alberta woman who held a “Write a Letter, Win a House” contest in January for her $1.7 million property in Millarville, southwest of Calgary.
In order to win the Alta Vista home, the McIntoshs ask contestant to pay a $25 entry fee and a 100 word essay explaining what winning the house would mean and how the winner would then pay the kindness forward.

This home will take your breath away from the moment you walk in the front door,” reads the Win This House post. “The foyer boasts premium tile flooring with an impressive custom maple staircase – hand tooled railings posts and wrought iron spindles. The kitchen also features granite countertops, a premium glass backsplash, stainless steel appliances, a Wi-Fi fridge and wall oven, and an induction cooktop.
The second floor hosts the master bedroom (with a heated floor to boot), a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, rainfall showerhead, and a smart LED mirror.
The basement has a wine room, full bathroom, kitchenette, family room, an extra bedroom, and a mudroom.
Needless to say, the house seems worth it for a letter and the price equivalent of an extra-large pizza.

The sellers need 50,000 entries by August 13 to be able to move forward with the contest so you’d be best get writing.
