The folks at Lexus Canada were kind enough to lend a beautiful Lexus RX 450h for a week. It was a pleasure taking a cruise en route to Osoyoos over the winding roads of the Trans-Canada and Crowsnest highways.
Osoyoos is located in the Okanagan, the only true desert in Canada. It is approximately a 4.5 hour drive from Vancouver to Osoyoos, but longer when you make stops in Hope and Princeton. Fuel economy is actually better for a hybrid in the city than on the highway. However, the 450h still hit a low 8.5 L/100 km en route.
The lush vineyards and orchards juxtaposed with the arid desert’s sagebrush in the background led to beautiful backdrops. Osoyoos Lake was no mirage, offering a variety of watersports options. Some resorts begin booking a year in advance as Osoyoos is a very popular destination. The plethora of orchards make it a must-visit to nab boxes of fresh fruit on the way back to Vancouver.
The Lexus RX 450h is a luxury midsize SUV, offering all the bells and whistles one can fathom. It is very roomy with good trunk space, with the drive being extremely quiet and smooth. The attention to detail is supreme, all the way down to the stitching.
Lexus and Osoyoos were an impeccable combination for a weekend out of town.
