The 2016 Oscar nominations were announced early Thursday morning with The Revenant and Mad Max: Fury Road leading the pack with the most nominations.

The Leonardo DiCaprio epic western film The Revenant scored a total of 12 nominations, including Best Actor, Best Directing, and Best Picture. Not far behind, George Miller’s Mad Max raked in 10 nominations largely due to a strong presence in the technical award categories.

Other big contenders prove to be The Martian starring Matt Damon (7 nominations), the true story Spotlight (6 nominations), Bridge of Spies with Tom Hanks (6 nominatins), Carol (6 nominations), and star-studded The Big Short (5 nominations).
