Orphan Thanksgiving for all those alone during the holidays

Dec 19 2017, 8:19 pm

Got nowhere to go on Thanksgiving? Well now there is a place. On Saturday, October 11, Here There is hosting Orphan Thanksgiving, a secret dinner party dedicated to celebrating the ones left behind. Whether your family is out of town or just not that into celebrating the holidays,Here There recognizes that even orphans need to eat on Thanksgiving! It will be a fun filled night of good food, music and plenty of drunk uncle speeches.

Here There is new event design duo with Lizzy Karp (Rain City Chronicles) and Ken Tsui (The Golden Dumpling Cook Off). Together, they’re teaming up with chef Annabelle Choi, a chef and baker who trained at the internationally renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. After her training, she found herself working at Craftsman & Wolves and San Francisco’s celebrated Tartine Bakery before finding her way back to Vancouver as the head baker at Matchstick Coffee. She’s since departed from Matchstick Coffee to dedicate her time to working on exciting new projects including the mouthwatering menu for this secret pop-up.

Dinner will be a big “help yourself” style spread of the Thanksgiving classics. From roasted turkey, porchetta, autumnal roasted vegetables, mash, salads, stuffing and not to mention, two types of pie, the dinner will satiate your Thanksgiving craving.

While chef Annabelle is dishing out the Thanksgiving classics, there will be a cash bar pouring holiday cocktails and a stereo playing solid gold jams. It’s all going down in a fun, cozy, dinner party environment where all you’ll need to worry about is what you’re thankful for.
