Northwest's grand opening this weekend

Dec 19 2017, 8:51 pm

One of the most talked about development on Vancouver’s westside is opening to the public this weekend. Northwest, located at Cambie & Marine across from the Marine Drive Canada Line Station, represents the best value on Vancouver’s westside. The mixed-use development will boast 349 homes in two towers featuring ground floor retail, and will round out the exciting changes afoot in the up-and-coming South Cambie Village.

Just steps from the Canada Line, Onni’s Northwest “will offer a truly unique residential experience,” touts Vice President of Sales Nick Belmar.

In fact, the Canada Line’s arrival at Cambie and Marine in 2009 heralded a new era of redevelopment for the former industrial area.

Northwest will be situated within easy reach of The Marine Gateway, which will include an exciting, pedestrian-friendly, outdoor mall and retail hub that will be home to an 11-screen Cineplex, an Osaka Supermarket, banks, fast food, coffee shops, an Irish pub and much more.

“I think there’s going to be a lot more activity and energy, especially in the South Cambie Village,” Belmar said. “It’s going to be a hub, a destination for people to go hang out, go to the movies, hang out with friends. You’re going to feel a lot of body heat in that area, which is great because today there’s not much going on.”

Though Northwest’s two LEED Gold towers will be close to major retail and transit, the project will also back onto a park and elementary school, offering residents a quiet escape in the city. With public transit, bike lanes and the pedestrian and bicycle bridge to Richmond close at hand, residents can also opt to ditch their cars to take advantage of the local amenities and connections to key regional destinations.

Northwest will offer homes from one to three bedrooms, ranging from 435 to 1,135 square feet, with prices starting at $299,900. The buildings offer views of the Fraser River, Vancouver Island, Vancouver’s westside and the North Shore mountains, and the property will include a roof deck with garden plots and BBQ areas, a fitness centre, party room, water features and a 24-hour concierge.

Homeowners will be able to choose from two designer colour schemes to personalize their home: Cambie (light) or Marine (dark). Kitchens are equipped with integrated stainless steel appliances along with a premium marble tile overweight backsplash.

“Heating and cooling is a big thing,” Belmar said. “It’s great to say that we have heating and cooling for every room in every home. That is a huge selling factor with potential buyers these days. Especially when you have a unit that’s facing west or southwest – it’s going to be bright and warm and you don’t want to have to leave the windows open, you’ll be able to cool your home whenever.”

Marble tiling will flow over into the bathroom where you’ll also find NuHeat heated floors.

Northwest residents will also have access to a 24-hour concierge, beautifully landscaped rooftop terrace (with a BBQ area, lounge, children’s play area and garden plots), fitness centre, media room, party room and guest suite.
