Why Cambie and Marine Drive is going to be the best corner in the city

You’ve probably heard about the developments going into the corner of Cambie and Marine Drive and how, in the next few years, that intersection is going to turn into a cool, pedestrian village of condo dwellers who will be able to live, work and shop within a brand new community right on the Canada Line.

Now, in the heart of that rapidly changing intersection, is a new condo development called Northwest that completes the reinvention of what’s becoming known as South Cambie Village. On the northwest corner (thus the name), backing onto a park and an elementary school, Onni’s new development will add even more density and vitality to the evolving neighbourhood.

A two tower, LEED Gold development of 340 homes, complemented by ground floor retail, the development is kitty corner to two other major condo developments and an outdoor mall and retail hub currently under construction. The new retail village has recently announced it will be home to a massive, 11-theatre Cineplex, an Osaka Supermarket, Starbucks, A&W, TD Canada Trust, CIBC, BMO, liquor store, Subway, Irish pub and more.

“It’s been a few years since anything new has come to market in this area so people are really excited about Northwest,” said Onni’s Nick Belmar. “Residents here can take advantage of proximity to the retail village, the Canada Line, the bike lanes and still come home to a quiet location backing onto the park. It’s an investment no-brainer for downsizers already living in the area, for investors and for parents who want proximity to good schools and a westside address.”

In the past few years, demand for homes in the South Cambie Village has grown in part because of increased awareness that proximity to transit increases the value of real estate, but also because of the popularity amongst young people living in communities that offer all the amenities, eliminating the need for a car.

With prices starting at $269,900, Northwest represents some of the best value offered on Vancouver’s westside. With great views of the Fraser River, Vancouver Island, the city and the North Shore mountains, homes at Northwest have higher-end interior finishes with integrated appliances, wood cabinetry, marble flooring and a high-efficiency heating and cooling system for every unit, compared to other nearby developments.

With curved foot bridges past water features and curbed balconies on both east and west towers, Northwest will be an architecturally beautiful addition to the area. There will also be a podium level, roof deck connecting both towers and featuring garden plots and BBQs, as well as a fitness centre party room and 24-hour concierge.  For more information, visit www.onni.com/northwest.
