The continuous evolution of Vancouver-based hard rockers One Left Alive is a testament to their dedication to grow as artists.
The group, previously playing under the name Kush, was originally formed five years ago by frontman/vocalist Lowell Campbell and vocalist/lead guitarist Marinos Stratopoulous, with Dave Campbell on guitar and Jason Sixx on bass.
In anticipation of the 2014 release of their self-titled debut album, the band decided to change their name to One Left Alive in a bid to differentiate themselves from other groups with similar monikers and to take themselves more seriously as professional musicians. With this transition came various lineup changes, culminating with the permanent addition of Mat Phiish on drums and Mike Greene on rhythm guitar. Now as a five-piece, comprised of Stratopoulous, Sixx, Phiish, Greene and both Campbells, One Left Alive brings searing riffs, catchy hooks and soulful harmonies together to create their own original raunchy blend of West Coast rock and roll.
One Left Alive has quickly achieved a lot in their short time together, releasing two music videos (for “Here and After” and “M.I.A.”) along with playing lots of local shows and touring comprehensively both in BC and Alberta. The band has been busy writing new music, with plans to get back into the studio later this year for a follow-up to their first effort.
The latest branch on One Left Alive’s ever-blossoming tree is an appearance in an upcoming independent film called 5 The Beginning, which will also feature their music on the soundtrack. In the meantime, you can catch the boys headlining at Venue on September 19.
