A priceless ring belonging to a Canadian Olympic athlete has been stolen from a home in the Vancouver Westside.

The incident occurred Monday afternoon between 3 and 4 p.m. at a home on West 8th Avenue near Maple Street.

According to the Vancouver Police, the white goal ring bearing the Olympic rings belonged to the former captain of the Men’s National Field Hockey Team. The ring was from his participation in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Along with the Olympic ring, the thief also stole a UBC Thunderbirds alumni ring and a number of personal items.

“The Canadian Men’s National Field Hockey Team captain, who is no stranger to fair play, is left calling foul after the break in to his family home,” reads a statement by police.

Anyone with information about the theft or knows the whereabouts of the rings is asked to contact Vancouver Police at 604-717-3321 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.
