Old Stock Exchange Redevelopment

Looks like another office tower is being proposed for Vancouver. This time Credit Suisse is proposing a 31 floor, 400,000 square foot office tower on the site of the old stock exchange at 800 West Pender. The project consists of a new LEED platinum high-rise office tower with associated retail shops, restaurants and parking. The new building is being designed to incorporate the latest sustainable technologies, while the Old Stock Exchange Building will be retained and given heritage status.

After a long drought, if this is approved it will mark the 5th approved office only tower downtown. The others being 1021 West Hastings, Bentall 6 aka 745 Thurlow Street, Telus Head Office and the office tower of the Burrard Gateway project. There are also a few office projects outside downtown approved. One of them is at the Marine Gateway project, another at the business park on East Broadway and last one is an office project on Oak street and Broadway. All this office construction is welcomed and will help the shed  the nonsense  rep of Vancouver as a resort town.

This project is at the very early stages but would be nice to see this get approved.
