An Ontario Hockey League player got up angry after he was body-checked on Friday night.
However, there’s no excuse for what came next.
During an OHL game between the Brampton Steelheads and Oshawa Generals on Friday night, Steelheads’ Luke Dragusica got up from a body check and swung his stick at the head of Generals defenceman Brady Blaseg, causing him to fall to the ice.

The incident left Blaseg bloodied and down on the ice for an extended period of time.
Not only did Dragusica swing his stick at Blaseg’s head, but he also cross-checked him once again while he was lying on the ice.
A melee ensued on the play, with Generals’ players attempting to exact revenge on their fallen teammate.
The OHL suspended Dragusica indefinitely on Saturday morning, pending a review of the incident.
Violent plays in the OHL have often been met with suspensions that exceed the punishment dished out by the NHL.
Last month, Kitchener Rangers forward Michael Hlacas got a six-game suspension for a blindside check from behind.
The prior season, London Knights forward Ryder Boulton was suspended eight games after slashing Calgary Flames prospect Zayne Parekh on the wrists.
If the OHL was willing to give out an eight-game suspension for slashing a player on the wrists, there’s likely a big ban pending for Dragusica, considering the violent and reckless nature of the play, coupled with the bloody injury that followed.
The longest suspension handed out by the OHL basically resulted in a lifetime ban. Erie Otters winger Michael Liambas was suspended for the rest of the 2009-10 OHL season after a check to the head that fractured the skull of Kitchener Rangers forward Ben Fanelli.
That resulted in a 68-game suspension for Liambas, who was in his last season of OHL eligibility anyway.
We’ll see if Dragusica faces a similar punishment for his needless act of violence.
