Not the Bees: A Burlesque Tribute to Nicolas Cage returns for one night only

Dec 20 2017, 1:53 am

Geekenders’ Not the Bees: A Burlesque tribute to Nicholas Cage is back for one night only at the Rio Theatre on Saturday, October 17 at 8 P.M. The popular variety show takes inspiration from Cage’s filmography to entertain the audience with a lineup of amazing acts.

Since forming in 2012, Geekenders has been bringing ‘nerdlesque’ to Vancouver, with their promise to “turn geeky fantasies into reality” gaining a cult following among local audiences. With their sexy re-imaginings of movies like ‘Star Wars: A Nude Hope’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Strip’, they aim to turn fandom favourites into provocative parodies.

As Artistic Director Trixie states, “If you come to a Geekenders show, you’ll see a new spin on something you already love.”

Not the Bees: A Burlesque tribute to Nicholas Cage is something extra special however. The show takes Nicholas Cage’s filmography and flips it on its head with a combination of comedy, burlesque and dance acts inspired by the cult actor’s most infamous performances. It’s sure to be a raucous evening; but also a positive one, with the Geekenders’ focus on body-positivity, queer-positivity and humour that never crosses into the mean realm.

The show draws a big crowd, so get your tickets early to avoid dissapointment.
