Finding an intruder in your house is one thing, but finding them asleep on your couch? A North Vancouver resident experienced just that on December 16 when they found an unknown male taking a nap in their home.

North Vancouver RCMP were called to a residence on the 100 block of W 2nd Street at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday when the homeowner arrived home after being out all day to discover a 24-year-old Surrey resident taking a nap on his couch. The man had broken into the apartment, helped himself to food and personal items of the owner, including putting on one of the owner’s t-shirts, and loaded other property into his backpack.

He then fell asleep on the couch until RCMP arrived and arrested him without incident.

“He certainly was surprised to see the police!” said North Van RCMP Cpl. Richard De Jong in a release. The suspect is now being held for court.
