North Shore Taxi offering free rides to the polls

Dec 20 2017, 2:04 am

North Shore Taxi is taking anyone on the North Shore to their polling station for free, helping local residents fulfill their civic duties.

The company’s general manager Gurdip Singh Sahota announced the generous perk this morning over Twitter:

Uber, which recently launched in Calgary despite the mayor’s disapproval, already announced they would be offering free rides to polls across the country today. The service is currently only available in Edmonton, Calgary, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Quebec City, Montreal, Halifax, Ottawa and Toronto.

Anyone interested in hitching a free ride to the polls can use the North Shore Taxi app with account code 7171 ELECTION 2015 or call 604-987-7171.

Burnaby North-Seymour Liberal candidate Terry Beech joined in applauding North Shore Taxi for their gesture:

Now if only TransLink had made transit free for the day by showing your election card…
