North American Parkour Championships Vancouver 2013

You may already know about the increasingly popular sport of parkour from movies and TV. While Hollywood usually displays a more flamboyant side of this, Parkour is about moving from one place to another with an emphasis on efficiency, fluidity and control, while using only the possibilities of the human body. What you may not know is that on February 2nd, Vancouver is set to hold the biggest grassroots parkour competition on the continent, the North American Parkour Championships, featuring top parkour athletes from all over the continent. At 6:00pm, these elite contenders will be competing in two timed speed courses, three skill challenges and, for the first time ever, a 2-on-2 freestyle battle tournament.

Think you can be a dark horse in the race? Register by email and take on invitational athletes and other challengers at the qualifiers on Friday, Feb 1st at 3:00pm.

The party doesn’t stop on Saturday either. On Feb 3rd, admission is FREE for the Women’s and U16 (Under 16) Division Competition at 12:00pm to 2:00pm, followed by a FREE training session open to all visitors!

Origins Parkour & Athletic Facility, located on the 3rd floor of 2655 Main St., will host this year’s NAPC event.  Tickets are now available at the gym for $10. Space is limited. Doors at 5:30pm, event starts at 6:00pm (Feb 2nd).
