Is there someone in your life who truly inspires you?
It may be someone who has faced seemingly insurmountable odds, yet still managed to come through with a drive to help others. They may have overcome adversity, addiction, illness, or mental health issues. They deserve recognition, and you can give it to them.
Well, now you have the chance to nominate them for all that they do in their community, ahead of the 20th annual Coast Mental Health Courage To Come Back Awards.
Every year since 1999, the awards have transformed the lives of thousands in the community by connecting people in need with the housing, support services, and vocational training they need to maintain their mental health in the long-term.
To-date, over 2,500 British Columbians have been honoured by their friends, family, and colleagues, with an award nomination, and 114 of those individuals have been award recipients.
Nominations for this year’s ceremony are now open and it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate a courageous person (or two) in your life. By putting their names forward, you’ll give them the chance to win an award at the anniversary gala in Vancouver on May 10.
More than 4,000 people access Coast Mental Health’s services each year. And the Courage To Come Back Awards will recognize individuals who have overcome their struggles in the areas of mental health, addiction, medical, physical rehabilitation, and a youth category that encompasses all the others. You can even nominate yourself for an award, too.
Nominations are free, so submit as many as you like via the Courage To Come Back Awards. Just make sure to do so before the deadline on Wednesday, February 7. All residents of BC are eligible for nomination, once they meet the set criteria.
