Another controversial fake No Name ad has popped up

A new fake Loblaws advertisement has been spotted in Calgary following criticism over skyrocketing grocery costs.

Canadians have been airing their frustrations with the grocery chain over issues such as rising costs and shrinkflation, leading some to even boycott stores such as Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, and Shopper’s Drug Mart.

The fake Loblaws ad, using its well-known No Name branding, was spotted by Dished placed on a bench on Calgary’s 1st Street SW, just outside restaurant Pat & Betty.

Using No Name’s signature bright yellow background with black text, the sign simply reads, “eat the rich.” It also includes the No Name logo, as well as logos for Loblaws and Real Canadian Superstore.

Earlier this month, a Reddit user had alleged that another fake Loblaws sign had been spotted in Calgary. However, Loblaws has since confirmed that the image was photoshopped.

The new sign has also been shared on the subreddit Loblaws Is Out of Control to the praise of many of those in the group. One Reddit user even hailed the person as Calgary’s “own version of Banksy.”

Others praised how quickly the ad’s creator had acted.

Some have also called for the innovative strategy to be adopted nationally.
