Nightingale, David Hawksworth's second restaurant, now open

Dec 19 2017, 9:47 pm

After months–years, really–of prolonged anticipation, David Hawksworth has finally opened the doors to his second Vancouver restaurant. Nightingale, located on the ground and mezzanine level of Oxford Property Group’s MNP Tower on West Hastings Street, served its first official customers on Monday, May 9.

With its name inspired by Aesop’s fable about a hungry hawk, Nightingale has finally readied what it needs to feed hungry diners who are fond of Chef David Hawskworth’s award-winning contemporary Canadian cuisine.

The two-level restaurant holds 180 seats with dramatic high ceilings and was designed to offer a cozy, modern vibe.

On the menu are “simple seasonal dishes, packed with flavour, and a focus on quality, excellence and fun,” says Hawksworth in a media release. Look for a playful take on local fresh veggies, shareable pizzas, fresh fish, and more Instagram-able options. They’re pouring a custom-made house Nighting-Ale brew, and offer a wide-ranging wine menu. The bar is a real draw, both physically and with its selection of libations.

Nightingale is open 11 a.m. to midnight daily, serving lunch and dinner; the full menu is also available at the bar.

We’ll be checking out Nightingale soon, but in the meantime, whet your appetite with these snaps from the restaurant’s pre-open test day and first day open:
