Victoria jazz musician Nick La Riviere to perform in Vancouver

Dec 20 2017, 2:12 am

Not only is Victoria-based Nick La Riviere a singer, composer, arranger, bandleader, and music teacher; he’s also a multi-instrumentalist who plays trombone, bass, and conch shell, too. As if that wasn’t enough, the talented jazz musician can also be found performing with bands including The Paperboys, Locarno, The HiFi, and has performed with the likes of Michael Kaeshammer, Nikki Yanofsky, Adonis Puentes, and the Temptations, to name just a few.

This July La Riviere released Another Time Around, the much-anticipated follow up to his critically acclaimed 2009 debut album, Too Much To Do. With the addition of vocals alongside musical influences that range widely from Jamiroquai to Paul Simon, the new record offers a beautiful mixture of various tempos and styles while still maintaining a gorgeous, cohesive sound.

Another Time Around’s featured single is “Woohoo” — a joyful and full-bodied pop song that perfectly represents the eclectic combinations of arrangements present on the album. An official video for the track, which La Riviere co-wrote with Geoffrey Kelly of Spirit of The West, was just released and shows the gifted musician in action.

Currently on tour in support of Another Time Around, La Riviere is set to play with special guest Anita Eccleston in Vancouver on Friday, November 6 at Pat’s Pub.
