The fans will decide who the next cover athlete of NHL13 will be by voting in a playoff style tournament. It started off with 60 players and it has been narrowed down to the final 8 NHL All Stars.
Even though your home team may be out of the running for the big prize this year, you can still have a stake in a hockey tournament of its own kind. You can vote as many times as you want for any of these athletes to get them into the semi-finals to contend to be the face of NHL13.
- Claude Giroux vs Anze Kopitar
- Scott Hartnell vs Evgeni Malkin
- Pavel Datsyuk vs John Tavares
- Henrik Lundqvist vs Pekka Renne
This coveted tournament is promoted by the various NHL Twitter accounts and by the teammates of the players themselves. Of course, at this point in the playoffs Kopitar and Lundqvist have an edge as their teams are still going for the cup so LA and NY fans are supporting them. I’m personally gunning for Malkin and Datsyuk to make it to the finals. Malkin has never been a cover athlete and is having one of the best seasons of his career, and Datsyuk has been a game changer for 10 years but has yet to be on a cover either.
