Organizers of Vancouver’s first free New Year’s Eve celebration in over a decade are looking for volunteers from the community to help pull off the big night.
“Free community events like these rely on the support of volunteers,” Heather Sharpe, the Producer for New Year’s Eve Vancouver, told Vancity Buzz. “We couldn’t do it without them, and the volunteers have fun too. This is also an exciting opportunity to show off your civic pride. It’s a win-win!”
This is an all-ages event, family-friendly event that celebrates the community and its successes, both individual and collective.

The first annual New Year’s Eve Vancouver celebration event takes place on Canada Place way from 6 p.m. to just after midnight and includes performances, live music, food trucks, and sponsor. There are two fireworks shows, with a short burst of fireworks at Early Eve at 9 p.m. and a spectacular eight minute display at midnight.
The event also has an optional ticketed component – a Premium Viewing Fireworks Lounge along the Canada Place West Promenade to provide revellers with an optimal fireworks viewing experience.
Volunteer duties on December 31 include greeting and directing guests as they arrive at the festival site, assisting the production crew, escorting performers, and operating the Kids Zone and craft tents.
