Two women in New Westminster in two separate incidents were victims of sexual-related offences on Thursday evening.

According to New Westminster Police, the first incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. when an unidentified male approached an adult woman who was waiting at a bus stop on Howes Street, in the Queensborough neighbourhood of Lulu Island. He walked up to the woman and pulled her pants down.

Shortly after, approximately 30 minutes later nearby, a suspect with a similar description pulled his own pants down and exposed himself to a woman driving a vehicle.

Police have described the man as a Caucasian male and 5’8″ tall, with a stocky build, dirty blonde hair, and a goatee. He was wearing different clothes in both incidents: In the first incident, he wore a black baseball hat with a white soccer jersey and jeans, but in the second incident he wore a red hoodie.

“We take these reports very seriously, but thankfully they are rare for us in New Westminster,” said Sergeant Jeff Scott, the Acting Media Relations Officer for the NWPD, in a statement. “We have increased our uniform patrols in the area, and our Major Crime Unit is canvassing for any witnesses or video surveillance to identify the suspect.”

Anyone who has any information about the suspect or witnessed the incident is asked to contact NWPD at 604-525-5411.
