Rainier Provisions, located at 2 W Cordova Street on the corner of Cordova and Carrall in Gastown. It’s been open for a few months now and recently they added 30 seat patio that rivals The Rumpus Room (in Mount Pleasant) for quite possibility the funkiest patio in Vancouver.
A patio of this sorts is usually unheard of in an overly bureaucratic city like Vancouver. However, as the our politicians become more aware of the cities needs they are allowing more and more unconventional (for Vancouver) elements to enter city. This sort of patio is known as “Paris patio”, because it’s physically disconnected from the establishment and is semi-permanent. The frame remains, only the seating and table are packed away.
