New Marathon Relay Race added for BMO Vancouver Marathon 2015

The BMO Vancouver Marathon, B.C’s largest and oldest marathon event, have introduced a new Marathon Relay portion to the race. The Relay Race will debut May 3, 2015 and will follow the Marathon course.

The Relay Race allows groups of two, three or four to run different portions of the race as a team to complete the total 42.2 km race. The first runner will meet at the Start Line and the remaining team members will be shuttled to different Exchange Zones along the course.

“In the last several years, runners have repeatedly asked for a relay component,” says Charlene Krepiakevich, Executive Director of the Vancouver International Marathon Society.

“We are pleased to announce that plans are underway to make this an exciting addition to the 2015 marathon weekend. The Relay will add an exciting new element to the Marathon by welcoming runners of shorter distances who collectively, as a team, can potentially record very fast times.”

Marathon Relay runners will receive the same as all BMO Vancouver Marathon runners. Running packages include a medal, race bib, timing chip, and technical t-shirt. There will be a prize for top male, female, and coed team for the Marathon Relay portion.
