New in Town: Lily Mae's Comfort Cafe

Gastown is home to the city’s most unique restaurants, and recently this month there’s been a new addition to their food scene – Lily Mae’s. This new vintage-style comfort cafe is located in the heart of Gastown nearby the statue of Gassy Jack. Lily Mae’s was opened by its owners Armand and Jeff shortly after their 20th anniversary together. Lily Mae is actually Jeff’s mom, an amazing lady from the prairies who happens to be an amazing baker. She inspired this restaurant with her vision of a cozy and comfortable space with great homestyle food.

Lily Mae’s is a “French cafe meets prairie kitchen“, so here you can expect homey dishes with a European twist. Just last week, Lily Mae’s released their brunch menu that features four mouth-watering dishes.

The Sunny Day Benedict is a fantastic brunch to have, even if it’s not-so-sunny outside. It’s more than your typical benedict because it is stuffed with fresh crab meat and avocado inside. This benedict melts right in your mouth and is an explosion of refreshing flavours. The hash browns it comes with are also very delicious as well  – warm and crispy but not too oily.

Lily Mae’s also serves some great local coffee with some dainty vintage china.

If you’re in the Gastown area and looking for a new homestyle meal, Lily Mae’s is where you should be headed. There’s nothing about this cozy vintage cafe that is not to be loved. Other than brunch, they also have a lunch-dinner menu as well and are open till late on weekends. There are amazing meals offered here at any time of day!
