It never hurts to have another place to get paninis in town, and it seems that the Glowbal Group has just done us all that favour. Yesterday morning, I attended the grand opening of IK2GO (Italian Kitchen to Go) on Hornby, a new restaurant where top quality grab-and-go Italian food can be found. This is the second IK2GO location in town which follows after the success of the first location on Alberni street. But whereas the first location has a take out counter only, this new location has an open and spacious dining area that guests can make use of.
IK2GO serves a wide variety of ready-to-eat salads, sandwiches, and pastries. Just looking at their display fridge is a mouth-watering experience!
At the grand opening I got the opportunity to try out many samples of IK2GO’s cold pastas and salads. From tuna salad to couscous, they had it all. These salads were very fresh and delicious, and thus would make excellent quick lunches or snacks.
With ten different types of paninis in their menu, IK2GO perhaps has the longest list of paninis I’ve ever seen. Their menu includes popular items such as Roasted Turkey and Chicken breast, as well as Italian classics such as Bocconcicni and Mortadella. The paninis I sampled were absolutely spectacular. With the crispy flatbread and flavourful fillings, I savoured every single bite.
Every Italian restaurant must serve meatballs, and the ones at IK2GO are definitely noteworthy. Large in size and flavoured with the most perfect tomato sauce, these meatballs can bring any meal to the next level.
And of course, IK2GO understands that a meal isn’t complete without dessert. My favourite one here was the tiramisu, as it was moist and had just the right amount of sweetness.
IK2GO is the perfect restaurant for those who are looking for a tasty meal that requires no dressing up. With all take-out menu items being under $10, a meal here would do minimal damage to your wallet as well. And even though a meal here is significantly less expensive than one at the original Italian Kitchen, this restaurant is still equipped with Glowbal Group’s amazing staff and services. So whether you’re grabbing a lunch for work or grabbing a dinner for a lazy night, it’s certain that you can find an enjoyable meal at IK2GO.
