New direct Vancouver flights to Cancun

Dec 20 2017, 3:51 am

Beginning next month, there will be another way to get to Mexico’s tropical paradise from Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Air Canada is bringing back its seasonal, non-stop service to the resort city of Cancun in southeastern Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula coast. Cancun is best known for its white sandy beaches and Mayan archaeological zones.

The service will run weekly from February 15 to April 25 on an Air Canada rouge Boeing 767-300 aircraft outfitted with a total of 280 seats. Inbound and outbound flights are scheduled on Monday of each week: Flights leaving YVR will depart at 7:35 a.m. and arrive in Cancun at 4:20 p.m. while flights leaving Cancun will leave at 5:40 p.m. and arrive at YVR at 9:30 p.m. Each flight is just under six hours long.

This adds to existing services provided by WestJet, Sunwing, and Air Transat.

Later this spring and summer, Air Canada will be adding five other routes from Vancouver, providing new links to San Jose, Chicago, San Diego, Dublin, and Brisbane. It effectively strengthens the airline’s hub in Vancouver.
