There has been a lot of celebrating for Canada’s federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh as he officially tied the knot with Toronto-based designer Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu in Mexico on Thursday.

Singh, 39, and Sidhu, 27, wed in a traditional Sikh ceremony on a beach in Mexico. Singh popped the question in January.

“I can confirm this is the final wedding ceremony,” Singh’s press secretary, James Smith, told Daily Hive via email.

Friends and family shared photos of the day’s festivities on social media.

Sikh weddings are celebrated for a few days, with several events, parties, and ceremonies taking place before the wedding.

Smith said that the couple will enjoy a honeymoon in Mexico in the following days.
