It’s not every day that you get to name a baby seal.
And, with only five seals left unnamed, your time is running out!
For a $1,000 tax receiptable donation, you can name a seal, receive regular updates on their recovery, and be there to release your seal, when they are ready to leave the Centre in the fall.
And, to encourage students, friends or colleagues to raise the amount together, the Centre has set up the ability to fundraise as “teams”, with each individual donor able to receive a tax receipt.
Plus, you can feel good about your money going to help reopen a Centre that has rehabilitated and cared for thousands of marine animals over 60 years. Including the estimated 100-200 seal pups in urgent need of medical care, that are expected to arrive at the Centre over the coming weeks. Each of which cost about $3,000 to rescue, care, feed and release over their 10-12 weeks of rehabilitation.
On Monday, Daily Hive and the Marine Mammal Rescue Centre announced a partnership to save the Rescue Centre by raising $125,000 by June 21st. And, yesterday, in less than 48 hours, we announced that overwhelming response had already pushed the total raise over our goal, to $157,000.
Although the Centre’s doors are reopening, more help is needed to ensure funding is available for the care of rescued marine animals at the Centre and the Vancouver Aquarium, including veterinary expertise, medication, support services staff and emergency rescue needs.
So, really, the only question is do you go with “Seal-th Rogen” or “Seal-ena Gomez?”
And, for those that want to adopt — check these adorable faces out!
