Okay, we know that spring has just arrived and you don’t want to be thinking about fall already, but, we wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t share with you these super-chic fall nail looks. From gentle nude to ominous black, here are our three fave nail trends straight from the fall 2014 runways. And we may even sport them right now.
Sally Hansen Global Color Ambassador, Madeline Poole, custom blended colours of barely blush, nudes and sheers from the Complete Salon Manicure palette (Arm Candy, Shell We Dance, Almost Almond and Pink Pong) for the Stella McCartney collections in Paris.
“We did a natural slightly sheer nail using various combinations of four shades,” share Poole. “Colours were layered differently for each model to best complement their skin tone. As different nudes look better on different hands, we wanted to customize each girl’s look rather than using the same nude on everyone.”
Models at the Joie Fall 2014 collection had their digits painted with Coney Island Cotton Candy. This sheer, peachy nude complemented creative director Serge Azria’s moody Parisian aesthetic and added a fresh finishing touch to the runway designs, which featured cable knits, cashmere and a strong focus on outerwear.
Michelle Saunders for Essie created a half dark pewter, half deep plum nail design to complement Nanette Lepore’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection. One coat of Chinchilly was applied to three quarters of the right side of the nail. Next, one coat of Berry Naughty was layered over Chinchilly to create the deep purple colour. Then, Over The Edge was applied to the to the left side of the nail, covering the remainder of the nail.
Inspired by the textures and bold colors from Wes Gordon’s Fall collection, Rita Remark for Essie created an edgy, Wicked tipped French manicure. This nail look was created by applying one coat of Penny Talk, then a coat of Bordeaux. Layered on top was a coat of Matte About You and once dry, a neat arc was brushed across the edge of the nail using Wicked.
Stacey Bendet’s fairytale inspired Alice + Olivia collection was filled with textured metallic fabrics, exotic fur pieces and oversized knits. To complement the bohemian glamour vibe, Miss Pop Nails for Essie created a dark, gold accented nail look. This fab nail look was created by painting nails with Licorice, a jet black lacquer, then apply the gold dots using a nail dotting tool (Tip: If you don’t have a nail dotting tool, use the end of a bobby pin).
Vera Wang’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection expressed a dark shimmery romance. Jin Soon Choi created a sophisticated and alluring nail to match the collections’ style and color scheme using two coats of JINsoon Mica nail lacquer.
