My Vancouver 2016: Spice Radio's Shushma Datt

Dec 20 2017, 3:25 am

Welcome to My Vancouver 2016, a curation of local industry experts, community and thought leaders, each telling us their resolutions for Vancouver in 2016. Since 2008, we’ve been bringing you a bucket list of things to do around the city while also keeping you informed with the many issues in our community. Now, we’re focusing on what’s next: the evolution of our city into something greater, starting with 2016.

What do you do?

I’m a media person and have a morning talk show on Spice Radio 1200 AM daily.

When did you come to Vancouver?

I came to Canada in 1972 from London, England, where I was working with the British Broadcasting Corporation in their overseas division.

What do you love most about Vancouver?

When I landed in Vancouver the very first time, it was late in the evening. The plane was coming down for landing my eye caught the lights of Grouse Mountain and thought they were the lights from heaven. The natural beauty of B.C. is awesome, I am still awestruck 43 years later.

If you could make one New Year’s resolution for your industry in Vancouver for 2016, what would it be?

As a media person and also who watches lots of news programs, my wish is that media would also concentrate on happy stories too and bring in more positive rather than negative.
