My Vancouver 2016 Resolutions: Gary Pooni

Dec 20 2017, 2:58 am

Welcome to My Vancouver 2016, a curation of local industry experts, community and thought leaders, each telling us their resolutions for Vancouver in 2016. Since 2008, we’ve been bringing you a bucket list of things to do around the city while also keeping you informed with the many issues in our community. Now, we’re focusing on what’s next: the evolution of our city into something greater, starting with 2016.

What do you do?

I am an urban planner with a consulting firm, and a proud father.

When did you come to Vancouver?

I was born in 1971, son of Indian immigrant parents who arrived in Canada approximately 50 years ago.

What do you love most about Vancouver?

Vancouver is known worldwide for so many things, like it’s natural setting, environmental health, and vibrant urban setting. I also love Vancouver’s diversity and multiculturalism – we have a very accepting city.

If you could make one New Year’s resolution for your industry in Vancouver for 2016, what would it be?

It would be incredible for our region to have an expanding rapid transit system, since it provides us with solutions to climate change, mobility, and housing. I also hope that our industry continues to show leadership in global social issues, and continues Vancouver’s culture of acceptance and compassion.
