My Vancouver 2016 Resolutions: DVBIA's Charles Gauthier

Dec 20 2017, 2:49 am

Welcome to My Vancouver 2016, a curation of local industry experts, community and thought leaders, each telling us their resolutions for Vancouver in 2016. Since 2008, we’ve been bringing you a bucket list of things to do around the city while also keeping you informed with the many issues in our community. Now, we’re focusing on what’s next: the evolution of our city into something greater, starting with 2016.

What do you do?

President and CEO of the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association (DVBIA), leading a team of dedicated individuals who love downtown and want to make it the best that it can be.

When did you come to Vancouver?

In 1992, after doing similar work in Summerland for two years, and previously living and working in my home province, Manitoba.

What do you love most about Vancouver?

Can I say everything? If I have to pick a few, I’d have to say the multicultural make-up of our city – the people and our culinary choices – and the stunning natural setting – the ocean, the mountains, the forest – and easy access to all of it. We’re really spoiled to have so much within easy reach.

If you could make one New Year’s resolution for your industry in Vancouver for 2016, what would it be?

To resolve to work all our partners and stakeholders to start bringing the ideas and common vision to life that 11,000 participants contributed to during our Reimagine Downtown Vancouver visioning process this past year.
