Music Monday: Jasper Sloan Yip

Dec 19 2017, 1:19 pm

Vancouver’s singer/songwriter, Jasper Sloan Yip, might not be quite on your radar yet but you should keep him in mind. He is well on his way to breaking into the spotlight. Jasper started out as a solo artist and over time he has built up a band piece by piece. As the band grew, his and the overall band’s sound has molded into the folkish rock it is today. Jasper Sloan Yip is a soft-spoken and very articulate person which goes hand in hand with the acoustic folk songs he has in his repertoire. Do not let this fool you though. He and his band is more than capable to give the audience a full on rock show that packs a punch.

Last year, Jasper Sloan Yip was one of the 20 selected to participate in The Peak Performance Project. He also went on tour with Behind Sapphire and performed at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival – BC’s biggest and most acclaimed music festival and Canadian Music Week in Toronto. That’s only a few of the many things he was up to in 2011. This year will be another big year for him and to start it off he has a few shows set up in January. Be sure to check out at least one of his upcoming shows.

Thursday, January 12 @ the Railway Club
Thursday, January 19 @ CBC Studio 700
Saturday, January 28 @ the Electric Owl

Here is his latest music video for “Mistakes and Repeated Carelessness” off the album Every Day and All at Once. For the latest updates on Jasper Sloan Yip, you can find him on Facebook and Twitter
